qimen black tea, short for qihong, is the finest black tea in china. its making processes are divided into the primary processing and refining. during the primary processing steps, fresh tea leaves are made into semi-finished tea called “crude tea” through withering, kneading, fermentation and drying. refining is the sublimation of the primary processing, it includes sieving, shredding, winnowing, trimming, re-firing and stacking. after refining, the “crude tea” will transform into high-end commercial tea. the main characteristics of qihong are tight and thin tea leaves, red and bright soup, strong and sweet flavor. because of its unique apple and granulated sugar smells, qimen black tea is called “qimen aroma”. the black tea has therefore been crowned as the head of the world’s top three highly fragrant black tea.
