the second phase of the yangtze to huaihe river water diversion project is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects designated by the state council. this year, the project has set clear goals, focused on rapid execution, and enhanced quality and efficiency, with various construction progress continually being updated. at the construction site of the shushan dual-line navigation lock in hefei, there is a miter gate known as the widest in the country, with a fan blade width of 20.8 meters and a weight of 836.11 tons. after significant technological efforts and meticulous construction by the team, the hoisting has been completed, and welding operations are currently underway. project leader zhao shunfeng stated that the shushan dual-line navigation lock not only has the widest miter gate in the country but is also the first high-head separation ship lock built on a soft rock foundation. once completed, it will allow for dual-channel passage of vessels weighing up to 1,000 tons. meanwhile, at the construction site of the mengcheng station for the second phase of the project, workers are busy with the rebar tying for the main pump house. this project, with a total investment of 740 million yuan, is the first level station on the guohe line of the second phase water supply trunk line, and it has completed 35% of the overall project, with plans to finish the main construction by the end of this year. including the mengcheng station, the second phase of the yangtze to huaihe river water diversion project is accelerating construction in five major areas: the water supply trunk line, key water supply projects, navigation support projects, water system connectivity projects, and smart scheduling systems. so far, the project has completed an investment of 6.5 billion yuan, accounting for 32% of the total investment target of 20.3 billion yuan. chen xi, head of anhui provincial group ltd., for yangtze-to-huaihe water diversion stated, "the second phase is an important part of our province's modern water network. once completed, the project will further unleash the potential of the yangtze to huaihe river water diversion project in optimizing water resource allocation, agricultural drought emergency responses, urban backup water sources, and ecological protection of rivers and lakes, providing a sustainable water source for the residents of northern anhui."
