since the beginning of this year, foreign trade has continued to maintain a stable and positive trend. in the first eight months, the total value of anhui's import and export of goods was 552.96 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. of this, exports accounted for 372.53 billion yuan, up by 9.8%, while imports were 180.43 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1%. looking at the data for august alone, the province's imports and exports amounted to 76.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%. nationally, over the first eight months, anhui ranked 9th in terms of total imports and exports, as well as in exports alone, and 12th in imports. it also secured the top spot among central provinces in all three categories. anhui saw growth in its trade with traditional markets such as europe and america, as well as emerging markets along the belt and road initiative. the european union remains anhui's largest trading partner. data shows that in the first eight months of this year, anhui's imports and exports to the eu amounted to 73.2 billion yuan, up 7.5% year-on-year, accounting for 13.2% of the province's total foreign trade value. imports and exports to the united states amounted to 63.58 billion yuan, up 9.5% year-on-year, representing 11.5% of anhui province’s total foreign trade value. during the same period, imports and exports to countries participating in the belt and road initiative totaled 275.53 billion yuan, up 4.2% year-on-year. additionally, imports and exports to other rcep member countries amounted to 130.71 billion yuan, up 3.9% year-on-year. these figures clearly demonstrate that anhui has maintained positive trade relations with its major partners, continuously expanded into emerging markets, and further optimized its international market layout through close regional cooperation and diversified progress, showcasing strong resilience and competitiveness in foreign trade.
