on the evening of january 13th, the huangmei opera "dream of the red chamber" was staged at the fuyang grand theater. the youthful and beautiful performance lineup, the simple and elegant stage design, and the soft and affectionate huangmei singing made the fuyang audience, who were accustomed to the huaibei bangzi opera, feel refreshed and intoxicated. the huangmei opera "dream of the red chamber" is one of the classic repertoires of the anhui huangmei opera theatre. in 1991, the anhui huangmei opera theatre created and arranged this production, and in 2004, they revived a youth version of "dream of the red chamber". over the past 30 years, this production has become a highly influential and enduring masterpiece with wide popularity. the performance of huangmei opera "dream of the red chamber" in fuyang has become a local "cultural event". liang tian, general manager of fuyang grand theater, introduced that as early as a month ago, the theater promoted the performances through its wechat public account and fuyang cultural tourism department. there was continuous audience inquiries and enthusiastic ticket purchases. fuyang audiences’ love for huangmei opera has deeply moved he yun, who played jia baoyu in the performance. he yun is a national first-class actor of anhui huangmei opera theatre and the winner of the china theatre plum blossom award. he said, "traditional opera is an art that relies on the audience for survival, it needs the resonance and response from the audience. through this performance, i have come to realize even more that only by constantly going out to perform, interacting with the audience, can traditional opera be renewed and attract more young audiences into the theater." it is reported that from november 29th, 2023 to january 17th of this year, the "new era, new huiban (opera troupes from anhui), new outlook" exhibition of high-quality plays, jointly organized by the publicity department of cpc anhui provincial committee, anhui provincial department of culture and tourism, and anhui provincial federation of literary and art circles, has organized 8 theater troupes from the province to present 12 outstanding productions in beijing, shanghai, nanjing, hangzhou, and some cities within the province, with a total of 21 wonderful performances.
