on august 11, anhui jianghuai automobile group co ltd (jac) held a departure ceremony for the first batch of electric pickup trucks exported to thailand. zhang peng, the deputy general manager of jac, attended the ceremony and witnessed this critical moment. as a key market in southeast asia, thailand is one of the important overseas strategic markets for jac. thanks to the thai government’s active call for transforming and implementing new energy vehicles, the country has also become one of the ideal markets for chinese automobile brands to “go global.” in early 2023, jac realized the introduction and testing of electric pickup prototypes and participated in the bangkok international motor show in thailand in the same year, becoming the only electric pickup truck exhibitor. the export of the first batch of electric pickup trucks in thailand marks a new milestone for jac in the thai market. with the new starting point and the new journey, jac will firmly grasp the development and change in the thai auto industry, continue to deepen cooperation with partners, and focus on the co-construction, sharing, and co-creation of users, products, and brands, to bring more high-quality products and service to thai users. from january to july 2023, the global sales of jac pickups totaled 32,400 units, a year-on-year increase of 12%; the domestic market increased by 8% year-on-year, and the international market grew by 13.4% year-on-year. among them, the export of pickup trucks performed well, ranking second in the industry, accounting for more than 20% of exports, further consolidating the export position of the industry.
