anhui has made rapid development in tourism over recent five years, realizing the great-leap-forward development from a province rich in tourism resources to one rich in tourism.
it promotes construction of tourism attraction, so that the percentage of tourism in provincial gdp(gross domestic product) rises constantly. inbound tourists reception, domestic tourists reception and tourism revenue lead the country.
last year, anhui received 4.85 million inbound tourists, up 9.2% year-on-year, and 520 million domestic tourists, up 17.6% year-on-year. the total tourism revenue amounted to 493.2 billion yuan, an increase of 19.7% year-on-year.
under the consent of the state council, national development and reform commission approved international cultural tourism demonstration areas in south anhui, including 7 cities and 47 counties(cities,districts). covering an area of 57 thousand square kilometers, the area strives to construct top-class tourism destination in the world.
last year, 1,306 key tourism projects with an investment of 100 million yuan ware established. the investment in the whole year totaled 168.0 billion yuan, up 11.8% year-on-year. fantawild resort and scenic spot of wan fo lake were approved as national 5a tourists attractions. 19 cities (counties, districts) in anhui province were approved as global tourism demonstration areas successively.
last year, anhui reinforced investment in infrastructures of rural tourism, exploring the targeted approach to alleviating poverty. 333 villages were selected as national or provincial key poverty-aided areas. 9 projects were rated as national tourism poverty alleviation programs. initiated by anhui provincial tourism administration, the rural alleviation project“3451” helped to reduce 104.8 thousand impoverished people.
anhui has constantly advertised “1 n” tourism brands. last year, anhui provincial tourism administration signed cooperative agreement with many tourism department overseas. up to now, provincial nbound tourism marketed has covered over 100 countries. besides, it added 20 outbound tourism destinations.
tourism will become satisfactory modern service industry, a driving engine in economic development and important pillar industry in anhui province. the tourism value added (vta) will account for above 7% of provincial gdp in 2020, according to provincial committee and government in april.(by jiang xueting)
