du’s copper engraving is not only a traditional art in fuyang, anhui province, but also one of the national intangible cultural heritages. it started in the late qing dynasty and early republic of china, and du xingjing is the founder of this craftsmanship. this engraving art is a handicraft technique that uses brass and white brass as the main materials and uses du's self-made graver to engrave on the surface of copper material through multiple processes, such as, materials selection, calibrating and finalizing the draft, engraving, polishing, heat tinting and embellishing. 
du’s copper engraving techniques take excellent copper materials, by using metal as paper and graver as paintbrush to create permanently preserved gifts and collections. the engraving skill is complex and requires high accuracy. in order to achieve the effects of light and shadow and shape of virtual and real space in carved patterns, masters apply intaglio, rilievo and other carving techniques.
