anhui province continues to strengthen the leading role of enterprises in innovation, cultivate innovation platforms, expand investment in innovation, and lead industrial innovation with technological advancements. according to the latest data released by the national bureau of statistics, anhui province invested a total of 126.47 billion yuan in research and experimental development in 2023, with an investment intensity of 2.69%, surpassing the national average. of this, enterprise r&d expenditure amounted to 102.76 billion yuan, accounting for 81.3% of the total. the innovation activity level of manufacturing enterprises in anhui province has risen to third place nationwide. our province's industrial and information system primarily guides and stimulates corporate innovation vitality through three main aspects: new product development, r&d platform construction, and the cultivation of high-quality enterprises. firstly, in terms of new product development, anhui province encourages enterprises to focus on the development and application of new technologies, processes, and materials, aiming to cultivate over 1,000 provincial-level new products each year. regarding r&d platform construction, at present, anhui has identified and recognized 3 national-level manufacturing innovation centers and 68 provincial-level manufacturing innovation centers. leveraging these innovation platforms, the province has built a high-quality enterprise gradient cultivation system. in 2023, anhui added an average of 11 new high-tech enterprises and 26 science and technology smes every day. up to now, the province is home to 32 unicorns and potential unicorns, over 19,500 national high-tech enterprises, and more than 27,000 science and technology smes, ranking 6th, 8th, and 7th nationwide respectively.
