for three consecutive years, anhui's yangtze river fishing ban and withdrawal efforts have been rated as "excellent" by the national assessment. the fertile fields along the banks of the huaihe river are picturesque; xin'an river is one of the rivers with the best water quality in the country, delivering 7 billion cubic meters of clean water to qiandao lake annually. anhui continues to advance ultra-low emission transformations in industries such as steel, implement deep treatment of volatile organic compounds, and carry out air quality improvement campaigns in six northern anhui cities. in 2023, the province achieved "dual improvements" in the annual average concentration of fine particulate matter (pm2.5) and the proportion of days with good air quality. anhui has deepened industrial restructuring, strengthened innovation-driven development, and empowered technology to cultivate and expand green, low-carbon industries such as new energy and energy conservation and environmental protection. the province focuses on key industries such as steel, cement, petrochemicals, chemicals and glass, advancing pilot reforms in comprehensive energy innovation. it vigorously implements clean, circular, and low-carbon transformations. from january to august this year, the output value of strategic emerging industries in anhui increased by 11.2%, accounting for 43.8% of the industrial output value above designated size. the province's renewable energy generation reached 53.7 billion kilowatt-hours, with the consumption of green electricity accounting for more than a quarter of the total social electricity consumption.
