on august 29, 2024, in the coal subsidence area of fengqi lake, huainan city, anhui province, a research and demonstration project base for key technologies and models of water surface planting was established through collaboration between huaihe energy group co., ltd and anhui university of science and technology, among other organizations. rice fields float on the water surface, thriving beautifully, creating a unique landscape of lush green rice paddies in the vast coal subsidence area. the project employs three planting models: nano membranes, planting and cultivating, and floating platforms for rice cultivation. recent phase evaluations of the key project for surface planting in the coal subsidence area indicate that the experimental floating rice cultivation is successful, marking the first of its kind in the country. the first batch of early rice has been harvested, yielding about 280 kilograms per mu, providing a new path for the effective utilization of abundant water resources and environmental restoration in the subsidence area.
