biomanufacturing is regarded as the "industrial revolution" in the manufacturing sector and serves as the "green power" for industrial transformation and upgrading. focusing on niche industries such as biomedicine, bio-food, and bioenergy, anhui is leveraging its early advantages to further strengthen the strategic layout of the biomanufacturing industry, and empowering high-quality development. 
recently, anhui province achieved a significant breakthrough in the biopharmaceutical field by establishing a production line for injectable targeted anti-tumor drugs, marking a "zero" breakthrough in large-scale production in this area. this project took over ten years to complete, with an investment of nearly 1 billion yuan. once fully operational, it is expected to have a comprehensive capacity of producing 4 million antibody drugs and 50 million protein drugs annually. vigorously developing biomedicine is one of the key directions for anhui to cultivate and strengthen its strategic emerging industries. by 2023, the scale of the biopharmaceutical industry in the province has exceeded 20 billion yuan, accounting for about 6% of the national total. after years of development, anhui now has over 30 universities, including the university of science and technology of china, offering programs related to bioengineering and biomedicine, and has more than ten academicians. it has also established several industrial innovation platforms, including the hefei comprehensive national science center for health research, with six national-level enterprise technology centers. with technological innovation leading industrial innovation, anhui has initially established a biomanufacturing system that covers six major industries, including biomedicine, biomaterials, bio-food, and bioenergy, with related enterprises distributed across 16 cities in the province. 
to further enhance the industrial layout, anhui has introduced a new model of central-local cooperation and collaboration among provincial, municipal, and county levels, establishing the province's first biomanufacturing fund of 2 billion yuan, primarily focused on biotechnology. at the same time, leveraging innovation carriers, anhui is deepening its efforts to attract investment and talent to support the rapid development of the biomanufacturing industry. 
according to estimates, the scale of anhui's biomanufacturing industry is approximately 51.6 billion yuan in 2023, accounting for about 5% of the national total. three major industrial clusters in biomedicine, biopharmaceuticals, and bioenergy have already formed; by 2027, the province aims to exceed 100 billion yuan in revenue from the biomanufacturing industry, establishing a spatial layout centered around hefei and bengbu, with northern anhui and wanjiang river basin as the "wings."
