on august 21, at the baishan section of the yangtze-huai river diversion project in lujiang county, hefei city, anhui province, the summer scenery along the diversion project is magnificent. it complements the surrounding beautiful villages as well as the green paddy fields and slowly moving boats dotted in between, presenting a picturesque summer scroll that is breathtakingly beautiful. 
it is understood that lujiang county, relying on the national major water conservancy project - the yangtze-huai river diversion project, has accelerated the construction of supporting project facilities. the capability for optimal allocation of water resources has continuously improved, becoming a significantly effective golden waterway. the full operation of the yangtze-huai river diversion project has become the second major north-south waterway in china parallel to the beijing-hangzhou grand canal, allowing vessels of over a thousand tons to navigate directly from river to sea, shortening the shipping distance by 200-600 kilometers. up to now, more than 10,000 vessel passages have been made through the locks of the yangtze-huai river waterway, with a total cargo tonnage of over 20 million tons. this golden waterway, connecting the central plains region with the yangtze river delta region, will provide new momentum for the high-quality development of areas along its route.
