on august 13th, at the jiekou section of xin'an river in shexian county in anhui province, environmental monitoring personnel from anhui and zhejiang provinces drove speedboats to jointly collect water samples on the river. to ensure clean waters flowing out of xin'an river, this marks the 13th consecutive year that both regions have conducted joint water quality monitoring. at the monitoring site, staff strictly adhered to technical operating standards, using a deep-water sampler to collect samples from depths of 5 to 8 meters. it is understood that each monitoring session involves selecting mixed water samples from the left, middle, and right sections of the xin'an river to ensure that the water samples monitored are representative. in recent years, shexian county has adopted multiple measures to solidly promote the ecological and environmental protection of the xin'an river basin. to eliminate new sources of pollution from the source, the county specifically compiled a negative list for industrial access and constructed a circular economy park. currently, the park has established a centralized heating company, a sewage treatment center, and a high-salinity wastewater desalination center, achieving "three centralizations" in heating, pollution treatment, and desalination. according to statistics, since 2012, the county has cumulatively built or upgraded 221 sewage treatment sites. in implementing the fishing ban, to ensure that fishermen who have come ashore have guaranteed livelihoods and opportunities for employment, shexian county has comprehensively utilized various measures such as industrial transformation support, poverty relief, employment training, and public welfare infrastructure construction. since 2023, a total of 86,000 yuan in subsidies for employment support policies for retired fishermen has been disbursed, and skill training services have been provided for 413 individuals. currently, the water quality compliance rate at the national control sections of xin'an river in shexian county and the excellent rate of water quality at centralized drinking water sources both reach 100%. the water quality at the cross-provincial boundary sections meets the class ii standards for surface water environmental quality, with nearly 7 billion cubic meters of clear water delivered to qiandao lake each year.
