wuhu's first driverless minibus line, operating on open roads, will officially open to the public this month after passing inspections. citizens will be able to check the vehicle's operating status, book seats, and scan codes for boarding through the wechat mini-program "jingkai district minibus." after over three months of field testing, the driverless minibus has safely traveled more than 4,000 kilometers on relevant roads in the jingkai district, accumulating valuable operational data. in 2021, wuhu was selected as one of the second batch of pilot cities for the collaborative development of smart city infrastructure and intelligent connected vehicles. as an important smart connection application scene within this project, wuhu achieved l4 level autonomous driving on open roads in the jingkai district in the first quarter of this year. during the trial operation phase, the 7.2-kilometer intelligent connected operation loop features nine stops, primarily serving the commuting needs of employees from nearby companies such as chery automobile and conch group. during peak hours, the vehicle prioritizes right turns to provide pick-up services for factory and corporate employees, while during evening peak hours, it offers left turns for drop-off services. it also connects with existing bus stops and the monorail line 1's gangwan road and anshan road stations. currently, the operating driverless minibus is equipped with six high-definition cameras and up to twelve radars, establishing a powerful perception system based on video and radar fusion technology, enabling it to intelligently assess road conditions and autonomously avoid obstacles.
