since the beginning of this year, anhui province has fully utilized the rich bamboo resources in southern and western anhui to vigorously promote the use of bamboo instead of plastic. through digital transformation and upgrading, the province has improved the added value and market share of its products, advancing a comprehensive green transition in economic and social development. 
for instance, anhui hongye group owns 150 automated bamboo straw production machines, capable of producing 6 million bamboo straws daily for global markets. according to yang dezhen, the deputy general manager of hongye group, bamboo straws are highly effective substitutes for plastic straws, reducing plastic use by nearly 10,000 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 60,000 tons annually. 
to enhance the market share of bamboo products, hongye group has hired four doctoral teams to facilitate digital production transformation, successfully developing an automated processing system. this has not only increased production efficiency but also significantly reduced costs, making the unit price of bamboo straws as low as 0.03 yuan, achieving industry-leading cost control. while conducting provincial pilot projects for promoting the use of bamboo instead of plastic in five cities and counties, including chizhou, huangshan, and ningguo, anhui province has also issued the "implementation plan for accelerating the development of 'replacing plastic with bamboo' in anhui province." this plan includes a series of policies and measures across product research and development, forestry infrastructure construction, enterprise digital upgrades, and key technological research and development. these efforts aim to help enterprises reduce costs, increase the income of forest farmers, and promote high-quality development of the bamboo-for-plastic industry. 
as of now, the province has over 1,200 bamboo processing enterprises. by 2027, anhui's bamboo forest area will remain above 400,000 hectares, with the comprehensive output value of the bamboo industry reaching 60 billion yuan. compared to 2022, the comprehensive added value of major bamboo-for-plastic products will increase by more than 25%, and the comprehensive utilization rate of bamboo materials will improve by 25 percentage points.
