to further deepen economic and trade cooperation between anhui province and saudi arabia, the anhui-saudi arabia investment and trade matchmaking event, organized by the anhui provincial department of commerce, was held in riyadh, the capital of saudi arabia, on july 17. the event aimed to promote bilateral cooperation and accelerate the export of our province's competitive products to saudi arabia. at this matchmaking event, over 100 participants attended, including more than 20 key export enterprises from anhui such as jac motors, chery automobile, gotion high-tech, and sunergy, as well as representatives from over 50 renowned enterprises and investment institutions from saudi arabia, including shawaf international. officials from the anhui provincial department of commerce introduced anhui's industrial development and investment environment and extended a sincere invitation to saudi guests to attend the 2024 world manufacturing convention in anhui in september. this event is a follow-up to the first promotional meeting held in riyadh on april 15 this year and marks another recent economic and trade matchmaking activity in riyadh. after the meeting, local attendees showed great interest in the participating enterprises from our province, with many saudi companies expressing their willingness to cooperate. preliminary cooperation intentions were reached in fields such as photovoltaics, lithium batteries, firefighting equipment, and building materials. during the event, the anhui export products (saudi arabia) exhibition center was officially unveiled. led by the anhui chamber of commerce in saudi arabia, the center is planned to cover an area of 3,000 square meters and will mainly provide services such as product display, customs clearance, logistics, and warehousing for anhui products exported to saudi arabia. it will serve as an important marketing and display window for anhui's advantageous products in saudi arabia and an essential platform for exporting anhui products to saudi arabia and the middle east. according to statistics, in the first five months of this year, our province's exports to saudi arabia reached 2.56 billion yuan, a year on year increase of 10.2%. exports of the "new trio" increased 2.4 times, with major export products including automobiles and auto parts, household appliances, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products. recently, gotion high-tech's cooperation with the saudi public investment fund (pif) has entered the full implementation stage, and sungrow has signed an agreement with saudi algihaz to build the world's largest energy storage project.
