on the afternoon of july 3rd, two drones carrying mail and express parcels took off from zhongmiao branch post office and sf express distribution center respectively, and after 10 minutes, they precisely landed at the party and public service center on mushan island and the takeoff and landing point beside swan lake. simultaneously, the anhui provincial postal administration and the hefei municipal people's government jointly launched the pilot project for unmanned delivery logistics applications in anhui province. this also marks the official launch of 20 drone routes and 121 unmanned vehicle routes across five pilot cities in our province. reporters learned that after the pilot project was initiated, more than 40 drone flights and over 600 unmanned vehicle trips will be deployed into the pilot operation daily. in recent years, the postal and express delivery industry in our province has achieved significant results in high-quality development. in 2023, the total volume of delivery services in the provincial postal industry reached 5.7 billion items, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%. among them, the express delivery volume totaled 4.1 billion items, with a year-on-year growth of 16.2%. innovation has become the primary driving force for the high-quality development of the postal and express delivery industry in our province. the characteristics of digitalization, intelligence, and green development are evident, with new technologies, business formats, and models being rapidly promoted and applied. hefei, lu'an, wuhu, anqing, and huangshan are the five cities that will pilot these initiatives first. among them, hefei and wuhu have accelerated the layout of drone and unmanned vehicle application scenarios in the postal and express delivery field, serving as a demonstration and leading role. officials from the anhui provincial postal administration stated that this pilot project serves as an opportunity to accelerate the promotion and application of unmanned intelligent equipment in the postal and express delivery industry for the future. they aim to solidly promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, exploring new models of low-altitude logistics and smart logistics.
