on july 1, the china-serbia free trade agreement officially came into effect. on the same day, xuancheng customs issued the first certificate of origin under china-serbia free trade agreement for a batch of non-woven fabrics exported by xingyi synthetic leather co., ltd. in ningguo city, anhui province, to serbia. the shipment, valued at 56,500 yuan, allows the company to enjoy nearly 3,000 yuan in tariff reductions in the importing country with the certificate. this marks anhui's first certificate of origin under china-serbia free trade agreement. the china-serbia free trade agreement is the first free trade agreement signed between china and a central and eastern european country, and the 22nd free trade agreement signed by china. according to the agreement, china and serbia will mutually eliminate tariffs on 90% of tariff items, with over 60% of items seeing immediate tariff elimination upon the agreement's effect. china will include serbian-origin products such as generators, electric motors, tires, beef, wine, and nuts under zero tariffs, with related product tariffs gradually reduced from 5% - 20% down to zero. similarly, serbia will include chinese-origin products such as automobiles, photovoltaic components, lithium batteries, machinery equipment, refractory materials, and certain agricultural and aquatic products under zero tariffs, with related product tariffs also gradually reduced from the current 5% - 20% down to zero. the deputy director of the tariff department of hefei customs stated, "we will further strengthen the promotion of free trade agreement policies, actively guide import and export enterprises to standardize their declarations, and fully utilize the rules of origin and tariff reduction measures under the agreement. at the same time, we will continue to promote the 'self-printing intelligent review' model for certificates of origin, implement trade facilitation measures between china and serbia, and support the high-quality development of anhui's foreign trade."
