the reporter recently learned from a wuhu municipal government press conference that the first international cargo route from wuhu xuanzhou airport, "wuhu – hanoi (vietnam)," is scheduled to officially open on june 28. on march 18 of this year, the national port management office issued a reply agreeing to the temporary opening of cargo functions at wuhu xuanzhou airport, allowing the airport to temporarily open for cargo operations. this makes wuhu the only city in the province currently with both maritime and air functions. the first international cargo route from wuhu xuanzhou airport is operated by jd airlines, marking an important step in the strategic cooperation between the wuhu municipal government and jd group. since its opening on april 30, 2021, wuhu xuanzhou airport has actively promoted the opening of ports and the construction of a professional aviation cargo hub. in 2023, the airport's passenger throughput exceeded 1.2 million, and cargo and mail throughput surpassed 20,000 tons, laying a solid foundation for port opening. the launch of the first international cargo route marks a new starting point for the comprehensive opening of international cargo functions at wuhu xuanzhou airport. it is a milestone in the history of wuhu's aviation development and represents a significant step towards integrating wuhu into the world-class airport cluster of the yangtze river delta and building an airport-based logistics hub.
