it is understood that germany is anhui's most important economic and trade partner in europe, with more than 110 german enterprises investing and operating in anhui and 34 anhui enterprises operating in germany. as early as 1984, anhui province and lower saxony officially established a friendly provincial-state relationship, becoming the first pair of friendly provincial-state relations between china and germany. over the past 40 years, the two sides have continuously reached new heights in exchange and cooperation. lower saxony is the most important source of investment in anhui from germany and is also a relatively concentrated area for large anhui enterprise projects in germany. anhui is one of china's important innovation and manufacturing centers, particularly emphasizing the development of the automobile and its supply chain industries. a relevant leader of anhui province stated, "we hope that car companies and upstream and downstream enterprises in the automobile industry chain, such as volkswagen group and continental, will further increase their investment in anhui. we will also fully support anhui's automobile industry in accelerating its investment layout in lower saxony." "since continental group began developing in anhui, it has received strong support from local governments at all levels. thanks to anhui's good business environment, continental group's development in anhui has been thriving," said a relevant person in charge of continental group china, expressing anticipation for more fruitful cooperation in the future. during the event, a collective signing ceremony for projects and enterprise matchmaking activities were held on-site, providing a platform to facilitate in-depth exchanges between enterprises from both countries.
