on may 8th, nio announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with guangzhou automobile group co., ltd. (gac) in guangzhou. the two parties will engage in comprehensive and multi-level strategic cooperation in various areas related to battery swapping industry, including battery standards, development and customization of battery swapping vehicle models, battery asset management and operations, and construction and operation of battery swapping service networks. they will also promote interoperability between their respective charging platforms. under the agreement, both parties will work together to establish a unified battery standard system, collaborate on the development of battery swapping electric vehicles and compatible battery swapping service stations for their respective battery swapping systems, and facilitate the launch of battery swapping vehicle models equipped with standardized battery packs agreed upon by both parties. they will also seek solutions for station-side battery swapping services that can accommodate both parties' vehicle models. additionally, they will promote interoperability among battery swapping networks and operators, establish a unified battery swapping operation management system, build a larger-scale, standardized, and unified energy infrastructure network, and establish a comprehensive lifecycle management system for power batteries, along with an efficient battery asset management platform and operational mechanism. in terms of charging platform cooperation, both parties will utilize their own charging facilities and establish interconnectivity for dynamic data exchange between the platforms. by the end of this month, both parties will achieve interconnectivity of their respective charging facilities, allowing users to access functions such as charging pile inquiries, navigation, activation, and payment through their respective apps, mini-programs, and in-car charging maps, making charging more convenient. previously, nio has already signed strategic cooperation agreements for battery swapping with changan automobile, geely holding group, chery automobile, jac group, and lotus, aiming to promote larger-scale, standardized, and unified energy infrastructure networks. furthermore, nio has engaged in comprehensive swapping cooperation with energy and power companies such as sinopec, cnooc, shell, state grid corporation of china, southern power grid, wanneng group, and zhong'an energy, collectively driving the rapid development of the electric vehicle battery swapping ecosystem.
