"green tiles and horse head walls, a dream of huizhou in a straw raincoat."this location features flowing water, white walls, tiny bridges, green tiles, and curling smoke. the recollections of huizhou flow softly, telling the story of old and meaningful years. the chinese and international youth of "looking china·anhui" arrived in style on april 27, 2024, and they set out to discover huizhou's charm and left their own imprints. the first station——huizhou ancient city huizhou ancient city, which is also known as shexian ancient city, is located in shexian county, huangshan city, anhui province. it was built in the qin dynasty, and has been the seat of the county, state and prefecture of huizhou since the tang dynasty. as a result, the county seat and the prefectural seat are located in the same city, creating a unique style of a city within a city. huizhou ancient city,lijiang ancient city in yunnan province, pingyao ancient city in shanxi province,andlangzhong ancient citysichuan provinceareknown as one of the four best-preserved ancient cities. moreover,huizhou ancient cityis the birthplace of"huizhou studies"that one of the three major local schools of thought in china. it is known as"southeast zulu, the state of etiquette". south qiao tower has a history of more than 1,400 years. the huizhou government office shows the original appearance of the ancient governor's office environment. xu guo stone square is known as the "oriental triumphal arch". doushan street enjoys the name of "the first street of jiangnan"... the flavor of ancient huizhou flows everywhere here. stepping into the huizhou ancient city museum, the youth enhanced their understanding of the ancient history of anhui under the introduction of the lecturer. every placewasa scenic spot. the hands could not stop shooting the shutter, and the footsteps expressed theirattachmentto the charm of huizhou. the young people of "looking china·anhui" strolled around the huizhou ancient city, retracing their steps through the places where the people of huizhou used to live.thiswas a dialogue across the time barrier, with the ancient and history. halftime at noon, the sun was shining brightly in the sky. chinese and foreign youthwent to the restaurantand enjoyedfood. the chef madehairytofu on the spot, and everyone came around at the same time and quickly picked up their mobile phones to record this interesting cooking process. after the meal, marta pulk held a meetingwithyouthat the huangbinhongmemorial hall to discuss filming. the second station——chengkan chengkan,which isformerly known as longxi, now has twenty-one national key cultural relics under protection. it’sknown as the "township of national treasures". founded in the three kingdoms period of the eastern han dynasty, chengkanhas a history of more than 1800 year. it’s located in thegreenhills and bamboos,andis the oldest and most mysterious gossip village in south anhui. surrounded by verdant mountains and tranquil waters, the villagers lead a serene and peaceful existence, preserving the authentic charm of traditional ancient villages. cheng kan not only embodies the weighty significance of history, but also emanates the understated grace of contemporary rural life. coming here, the youth were full of curiosity about everything aroundit.they learned about huizhou's past from the docents and talked happily. frequently, they stopped to shoot, using the lens to record these unique huizhou history and culture. they want to say 1.anhui opera group——ipek ertan: what we witnessed in today’s cultural tour was so much more beautiful than i expected. getting lost in the alleyways of the huizhou ancient city as well as cheng kan made me feel so serene and peaceful. i could actually feel the feng shui in the locations. i’m really grateful to be here in huangshan. 2.she inkstone group——polly marie annette myra harrison: todays cultural tour of huangshan was so wonderful! i thoroughly enjoyed learning more about this regions rich landscape and geography, its history, its culture and day to day life. a highlight for me was visiting the ancient city in the second half of our day. we got to venture deep within its walls and take in its historied stories dating as far back as the qing dynasty as well discover the local stores and merchants of today. 3.xidi post office group——paula ferreira loffler: i felt like i was in another time! as if ancient china was mixed with the modernity of today's china! i really enjoyed getting to know the villages and discovering new places in the world that i couldn't imagine existed. it was an unforgettable experience! 4.stone carving group——joão lucasmoutaaguiar: i see looking china project as a cultural exchange. it is my first time in china and the period that i’m here is changing my life forever. the people are really kind, nice and very polite. the food is perfect and the architecture is really different here, but it is also beautiful. i wish i could come back here more times. i’m in love with this country. 5.huizhou handicraft porcelain group——weeraddana chathuri priyanka de silva: it was really good experience to visit huizhou ancient city and cheng kan today. we had chance to learn facts about chinese history, dynasty and the way of their ancient lifestyle. but it’s really fun to walk around with our international friends and our local producers. we shared a lot of fond memories and experiences. 6.xidi ancient village group——patrick antonjuk: i was very grateful for the opportunity to visit two ancient heritage sites here in anhui today with our looking china group. the architecture of the huizhou culture is extremely impressive, the white buildings with grey roofs, horsehead accents and stone floors are very distinctive and beautiful. the second place we visited had several bridges and calm waters which made the place even more scenic. overall this trip was extremely insightful for me, because the architecture in europe is completely different. thank you, looking china and all the organizers that made this cultural trip possible for us. 7.hongcun scenery group——diogo manuel martins da palma this first day of cultural experiences in the ancient villages of huizhou and cheng kan were very important to better understand the oldest customs and traditions of the chinese people. i'm sure this first tour and journey will help us in the future of filming our films. now i'm even more excited to finally start working on our projects. 8.stinky mandarin fish group——louisa phung: today was both wonderful and overwhelming. i think there was a lot packed into a very short amount of time. marta is a great teacher with some very good words of wisdom. the second ancient town was gorgeous and it felt a little surreal being there. everywhere i looked was amazing and beautiful. 9.zhuo wen's canteen group——annika väljataga: a day full of touring around huangshanmountains was a good way to experience china from a different perspective. thehuizhou ancient city was the first place for me to finally see the traditional historic buildings of china and the museum offered a modern overview of the place. after days of only seeing the bustling city life of beijing and wuhu, visiting the ancient village of cheng kan was a breath of fresh air. the calm atmosphere, welcoming people and historically rich streets made the place feel like a tranquilizing film. nestled in the greenery of huangshan mountains, the scenery was breathtaking. a place to take in not only with your eyes but also with your soul. 10.hongcun humanities group——alexandra pärn: i feel so grateful for the wonderful experience i have had this far with the looking china project. one of the best parts was our culture day, where we got to visit ancient towns and learn more about the rich heritage of the region. anhui is a special place, full of history and stunning scenery. walking through the old streets of the ancient towns, i was amazed by the traditional buildings, busy markets, and friendly locals. each corner we turned told a story of the past and gave us a glimpse into the unique culture of the area. what made this day even more special was the bond we formed as a group. we shared laughs, explored together, and enjoyed the beauty of anhui as one team. it showed me how travel can bring people closer, no matter where we come from or what language we speak. the collision of different cultures makes the thinking shine like fireworks, and the lens becomes a window to convey feelings. anhui trip officially started. chinese and foreign youth will write various interesting stories in this collaboration. let's witness it together in the coming days.
