on the afternoon of december 20th, the 2023 huizhou merchants conference on supporting high-quality development in anhui and the founding conference of the huizhou merchants association were held in hefei, along with the hefei metropolitan area industry matchmaking symposium. the symposium aims to leverage the respective advantages of the cities within the circle, improve the dominant industrial chains, strengthen financial empowerment for high-quality development, and create a modern metropolitan area where huizhou merchants gather. according to the introduction, the hefei metropolitan area is one of the five major metropolitan areas in the yangtze river delta. it holds a significant strategic position in national modernization construction and regional coordinated development. as per the latest "hefei metropolitan area development plan" submitted to the national development and reform commission, the scope of the metropolitan area includes the entire territory of hefei city, shouxian county of huainan city, dingyuan county of chuzhou city, jin'an district and shucheng county of lu'an city, hanshan county of ma'anshan city, wuwei of wuhu city, tongcheng of anqing city, with a total area of approximately 24,900 square kilometers. in the first three quarters of this year, the hefei metropolitan area, covering 17.8% of the province's land area and accounting for 23.5% of its population, contributed 31% to the region's gdp, nearly 29% to general public budget revenue, and 44% to import and export turnover. it has also gathered nearly 50% of new high-tech enterprises and 35% of new foreign-funded enterprises, making it an important engine driving high-quality development in the province. the hefei metropolitan area is a metropolitan area where resources flow smoothly and scientific and innovative industries integrate and develop, making it a vibrant and promising metropolitan area with great potential. in line with the development goal of building an innovative and modernized metropolitan area with significant influence, efforts are being accelerated to construct a spatial layout of "one core, two axes, and three rings," promoting the construction of efficient and coordinated commuting circles, industrial circles, living circles, and security circles.
